M4 CP - Book Cover Design [Part 2] The Crooked Staircase by Dean Koontz

Here is my finalized full book jacket re-design of Dean Koontz's book, The Crooked Staircase.

I went with my seventh sketch design. I used a photograph of a staircase along the book's front cover and spine. With smart filters added, such as sharpening and noise,  I was able to create the ominous effect I was looking for. The author's name is in capital letters, with a white Thonburi font that is also used throughout the book cover. The title is shown here walking down the steps which completes the front cover design. I used the drop shadow effects for all typography on the front cover.  The spine includes the title, author and publisher's logo. On the rear cover, I applied the Figure/Ground Gestalt Principle.  Using my own photograph I was able to create the silhouette from my photo with blending options, color burn at 73 percent opacity, a blend clipped layer and transparency shapes layer on a background layers mask. The color scheme from the front cover was brought into the back cover for continuity. The description of the book, publisher's logo, and scan code appear here as well. I hope my re-design of this book cover will attract new readers to the Dean Koontz fan club.
