Here is my finalized full book jacket re-design of Dean Koontz's book, The Crooked Staircase. I went with my seventh sketch design. I used a photograph of a staircase along the book's front cover and spine. With smart filters added, such as sharpening and noise, I was able to create the ominous effect I was looking for. The author's name is in capital letters, with a white Thonburi font that is also used throughout the book cover. The title is shown here walking down the steps which completes the front cover design. I used the drop shadow effects for all typography on the front cover. The spine includes the title, author and publisher's logo. On the rear cover, I applied the Figure/Ground Gestalt Principle.
